Laphroaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky has launched Taste Trailblazers in South Africa, a global celebration of culinary pioneers who are pushing the boundaries of flavour. Inspired by Islay, Taste Trailblazers aims to capture the stories of global pioneers who take their passion for taste into areas of salt, fire, and peat. The advocacy programme aims to grow affinity with existing peated whisky drinkers by connecting them with pioneering culinary partners across South Africa.
Participating chef-and-bartender teams from Johannesburg and Cape Town will conceptualise and serve a menu of dishes and drinks that showcase the unforgettable flavours of peat, salt and fire, creating a truly immersive and memorable dining experience for guests. The competition will launch in April 2023, with the Trailblazer self-dinners at participating venues running from May until August 2023. The top chef and bartender will win the grand prize of a trip to Fèis Ìle 2024 (Islay Whisky Festival).
